Unibet Group plc has recently published its interim financial report and it shows a strong performance in the first quarter (January to March) of 2011. Unibet is based in Malta and is a company renowned for its online casino, betting and gambling products and services. In spite its withdrawal from the French market, the company still shows an increase of 16 percent in their revenue from gross winnings. The online casinos and gambling market in France is actually 23 percent in their revenue for gross winnings in 2010. But this time, the company showed an increase in their market in the Nordic region of Europe.

There are several performance indicators that serve as a key to their 2011 first quarter performance. On top is the gross winning revenue, which amounts to £37.5 million. Last year, in the same period, the company’s revenue from gross winnings at online casinos and sports betting is £41.8 million. For their profit from their operation, the company earned £11.2 million; last year, they only earned £10.6 million. After taxes, the company earned a profit of £10 million, while last year it earned £9.5 million. As for their active online casino and sports betting customers, this year’s first quarter’s number is 328,054, which is lower than last year’s first quarter number of 379,473.

According to the chief executive officer of the company, the result of this year’s first quarter shows a strong performance for Unibet. Their online casino and gambling market share in the Nordic region is also gaining momentum with 24 percent increase compared to last year. Their strategy this year and the next years will be bringing focus back to the Nordic region markets and to deliver a profitable growth despite the changes in the European markets.
